Why do I need to replace my injectors

Injectors may need to be replaced for various reasons.

  • Age and wear

  • Failure of the injector or other fuel system components

  • Contamination , poor fuel quality or maintenance issues

We have seen injectors for various reasons even before the 120,000km check require replacing. Before tuning, we always recommend checking injectors to keep your engine and fuel system in top shape, this is a fairly straightforward procedure that ensures we get to identify an issue before it’s a huge problem. Healthy injectors help maintain vehicle efficiency, fuel economy, power & engine safety.

What to Expect

Tuning is not required when installing these injectors to a standard vehicle. Injector coding & pilot re-learning (later model) is required when fitting these injectors. To optimise efficiency, economy and power

If you are looking to get the most out of your vehicle, tuning can still be considered as a separate step to gain additional performance and efficiency. You can send us an enquiry here

Fuel system supporting modifications - We always recommend to change your fuel filter when fitting new injectors additionally, replacing your suction control valve if the vehicle has done more than 120,000km is considered best practice.

Drive line - Manual vehicles require a heavy duty clutch when dyno tuning.

When completing your injectors, we recommend checking the MAP sensor filter on the intake manifold. The MAP sensor filter is a small plastic filter that is prone to splitting and gives a false reading to the MAP sensor. We recommend stainless steel upgraded MAP Sensor filters to combat this problem - found here.

Additionally if you are interested in taking performance to the next level, we have +30 injectors available

Getting the Right Set

The correct injector code for your vehicle can be identified in different ways. The first 2 digits on the top of the injector will tell you the code eg: 11 = 11 code, 13 = 13 code and 18 = 18 code.

Our guide below can also be used:

1KD11+30 - 1KD +30 INJECTORS - 11 Code - Pre Water Cooled EGR - 2005 - 08/2006
1KD13+30 - 1KD +30 INJECTORS - 13 Code - Water Cooled EGR - 2006-2009
1KD18+30 - 1KD +30 INJECTORS - 18 Code -  Water Cooled EGR - 2009-2015

If you are still unsure or cannot read the numbers, let us know in the order notes and we will contact you to ensure you get the correct set!
